Coney I-Lander / Tulsa, OK

Coney Islands (hot dogs with mustard, onions, and greek chili (no beans)

Opened in 1926 as the 5 cent Hot Wiener Shop and served Coney Islands (hot dogs with mustard, onions, and greek chili (no beans). 3 years later the Great Depression hit and while everyone else was selling 50 cent steaks, his nickel coneys became the favorite for lunch, “success”. Six more outlets sell more than 600,000 hot dogs a year, for a Coney Dog these are pretty good. Any time I am close to Tulsa this is always the last place I am at before seeing the “Now Leaving Tulsa” sign.
