La Tapa / St. John, Virgin Island

Diver Scallops, Cauliflower Soubise, and Crispy Smoked Bacon

Started this blog with the intent on keeping my restaurant recommendations in the 50 states but I  travel to the Caribbean quite a bit and St. John in particular so I am putting my favorite place to dine on the island.
Chef/Owner Alex Ewald has created an incredible environment at the Cruz Bay establishment. A mix of French and Spanish cuisine with a contemporary Caribbean flavor. The Mahi was perfection on a plate, mind you it was just swimming about 4 hrs before. The Paella (para dos) is worth the $72 price tag and one other note when ordering a starter of cheese and a tray comes to the table for a decision to be made, that is an immediate top of the list in my book. If you happen to be visiting on the island, big mistake to miss out on this place. Would recommend reservations. One of my all time favorites.
