Chris’ Hot Dogs / Montgomery, AL

Mustard, Onions, Kraut, and Chris’ Famous Chili Sauce &┬áThe Special: 2 Dogs on 1 bun w/Famous Chili Sauce

Oldest serving restaurant in Montgomery since 1917. When first opened it was a drive up vegetable stand and moonshine stop during prohibition. It got so busy (can’t guess why) that the town had to make him close down the window because of the traffic jams it was causing and it became the lunch counter it is today. In his childhood Hank Williams Sr. used to come in and play guitar sitting on the jukebox. President FDR use to make this a mandatory train stop on his way to GA and come in for a box of dogs. Chris’s Special Chili Sauce, definitely a 3 napkin minimum.
