Strawn’s / Shreveport, LA

This old school lunch counter has been a Shreveport landmark for over 65 years. Opened in 1944 by Mr. Strawn, it changed ownership in 1958 where Lula McCoy “the fried chicken maker”, Ella Hamilton “the pie lady”, and Gladys Duncan “the great waitress” turned this place into a “Shreveport Tradition”. Food is good and great atmosphere but the real reason to step foot in this place is the ice box pies. BEST I HAVE EVER HAD. These home made pies are perfect, crust browned all the way thru before the filling is placed. Every pie is covered in real whipping cream. Strawberry, Peach, Coconut Cream, and Chocolate. Huge mistake to forget these desserts. Food Network named the pies “best of” and Southern Living Magazine has done 3 different years of features. For anyone who knows me CHOCOLATE PLEASE.
