Martins Tavern / Washington D.C.
Oldest family-owned restaurant in Washington,D.C., founded in 1933 in Georgetown by former Major League Baseball player William Gloyd “Billy” Martin. The tavern has hosted each U.S. President from Harry S. Truman on. The menu features a trove of “old-school standbys” (oyster stew, hot browns, welsh rarebit). Some of the best Oyster Stew I have had, FYI: It’s made to order.
